Chapter 2295 Interrogation, Control, And Ecstasy:>Ep2
- One man was just a little older than Faye, a former college student who had been studying journalism before the universities were shut down. That alone was enough to make him a communist in Faye's eyes, so she called him Red in her head. Criminals like him weren't actual people to Faye, and didn't deserve real names. Red had been caught feeding a homeless man. Seeing homeless people and not reporting them was a crime, and feeding or aiding them was an even worse offense. Red had been captured shortly after that and his entire history had been investigated. It had turned out from his bank records that Red hadn't purchased anything in two months from any of the glorious leader's list of approved patriotic companies. That was long enough to make it an illegal boycott, just adding to the marxist's list of crimes.
- The other man was large and heavy, and arms were thick with hair, so Faye labeled him as Bear. The crime that had brought Bear into custody had been handed over by one of the social media companies that had been taken over by the government. Their records showed that five years ago Bear had posted two quotes from the glorious leader. The issue was that the two quotes directly contradicted each other, and Bear had obviously meant to point that out. It was treason to imply that the glorious leader was ever wrong, so Bear had been apprehended by the taskforce. During the following investigation it was discovered that the small Baltic ethnic grocery store that Bear ran had less than twelve approved patriotic flags and portraits of the glorious leader, which was also a high crime. Even worse, Bear's mother was discovered to be an immigrant from some place called Latvia. Faye didn't know where Latvia was, but it sounded like some terrorist country from the middle east, so she was sure that Bear was some kind of sleeper agent insurgent.
- Both of the men had serious enough crimes that the government could do anything they wanted with them. The courts had been filled with new righteous and loyal judges, and they did whatever the administration and the glorious leader asked. Their trials would be swift and their punishments enacted within a few days. Red was young and probably strong enough to be sent into the fields, working as prisoner labor for loyal farmers who had lost all of their workers for some reason recently. Bear would likely be deported to Sudan, Yemen, or some other country currently in civil war.
